Debré doet zijn uitspraken in een interview met de Franse zondagkrant Journal du Dimanche. “De griep is waarschijnlijk zelfs minder gevaarlijk dan de normale griep”, zegt Debré, die in Frankrijk een bekende uroloog is en afgevaardigde voor de UMP-partij van Sarkozy. “De zieken, bij wie men overigens niet eens nagaat of zij H1N1 hebben, wordt inmiddels gevraagd paracetamol te slikken”. De thans 43-jarige McKinnon wordt ervan verdacht dat hij in 2001 en 2002 bijna honderd computers van het Amerikaanse leger heeft gekraakt, en de Verenigde Staten hebben om zijn uitlevering gevraagd. McKinnon ontkent de feiten niet, maar verzet zich tegen zijn uitlevering en wil in zijn eigen land berecht worden. Ook betogen zijn advocaten dat hij uitlevering psychisch niet aan kan, maar de regering is tot dusver ongevoelig gebleken voor dit argument. Een jarenlange gang langs allerlei juridische instanties heeft McKinnon nog altijd niets opgeleverd, maar in het parlement kreeg hij wel steun. Niet alleen vonden veel parlementariërs uitlevering onterecht, maar met het uitleveringsverdrag als zodanig waren ze ook niet erg tevreden. Het werd na de aanslagen van 11 september 2001 afgesloten als wapen in de strijd tegen het terrorisme, maar dat is het niet echt geworden; van de 57 mensen die Groot-Brittanië tussen 2004 en 2008 heeft uitgeleverd aan de VS, werd er slechts één verdacht van terrorisme. Ook de eenzijdigheid was een bron van onvrede: het is veel makkelijker om Britten uit te leveren aan de VS dan andersom. Er leek zich in het Lagerhuis een meerderheid af te tekenen voor herziening van het verdrag, toen 74 leden van de regerende Labourpartij zich hier voor uitspraken, zo meldt The Times. Bij de stemming over de desbetreffende motie stemden er echter maar tien voor, zodat deze werd verworpen. De regering had zich tegen de motie verklaard en voor de meeste Labour-voorstanders was dit een reden om toch maar tegen te stemmen. MacKinlay beklaagde zich bitter over deze slaafse trouw aan de partijleiding. Hij verklaarde dat hij “teleurgesteld was in het parlement” en bij de volgende verkiezingen zou opstappen, zo meldt de Daily Telegraph. Nu het parlement hem niet heeft willen steunen, rest McKinnon alleen nog een beroep op het High Court, dat komende week een oordeel over de zaak zal vellen. McKinnon hackte de computers van de Amerikaanse defensie en NASA. Naar eigen zeggen botste hij op wereldschokkende geheimen: contact met buitenaardse wezens, anti-zwaartekrachttechnologie en meer van zulks.Een tijd geleden was Gary in een radiouitzending waar hij zijn verhaal deed. The records dating back to soviet times were compiled by a special navy group collecting reports of unexplained incidents delivered by submarines and military ships. The group was headed by deputy Navy commander Admiral Nikolay Smirnov, and the documents reveal numerous cases of possible UFO encounters, the website says. Vladimir Azhazha, former navy officer and a famous Russian UFO researcher, says the materials are of great value. “Fifty percent of UFO encounters are connected with oceans. Fifteen more – with lakes. So UFOs tend to stick to the water,” he said. On one occasion a nuclear submarine, which was on a combat mission in the Pacific Ocean, detected six unknown objects. After the crew failed to leave behind their pursuers by maneuvering, the captain ordered to surface. The objects followed suit, took to the air, and flew away. Many mysterious events happened in the region of Bermuda Triangle, recalls retired submarine commander Rear Admiral Yury Beketov. Instruments malfunctioned with no apparent reason or detected strong interference. The former navy officer says this could be deliberate disruption by UFOs. “On several occasions the instruments gave reading of material objects moving at incredible speed. Calculations showed speeds of about 230 knots, of 400 kph. Speeding so fast is a challenge even on the surface. But water resistance is much higher. It was like the objects defied the laws of physics. There’s only one explanation: the creatures who built them far surpass us in development,” Beketov said.Navy intelligence veteran, Captain 1st rank Igor Barklay comments: “Ocean UFOs often show up wherever our or NATO’s fleets concentrate. Near Bahamas, Bermudas, Puerto Rico. They are most often seen in the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean, in the southern part of the Bermuda Triangle, and also in the Caribbean Sea.” Another place where people often report UFO encounters is Russia’s Lake Baikal, the deepest fresh water body in the world. Fishermen tell of powerful lights coming from the deep and objects flying up from the water. In one case in 1982 a group of military divers training at Baikal spotted a group of humanoid creatures dressed in silvery suits. The encounter happened at a depth of 50 meters, and the divers tried to catch the strangers. Three of the seven men died, while four others were severely injured. “I think about underwater bases and say: why not? Nothing should be discarded,” says Vladimir Azhazha. “Skepticism is the easiest way: believe nothing, do nothing. People rarely visit great depths. But this is no alien creation – the designs have been cleverly planted. Farmers creating the huge displays use no ink or dye. Instead, different colours of rice plants have been precisely and strategically arranged and grown in the paddy fields. As summer progresses and the plants shoot up, the detailed artwork begins to emerge.
A Sengoku warrior on horseback has been created from hundreds of thousands of rice plants, the colours created by using different varieties, in Inakadate in Japan The largest and finest work is grown in the Aomori village of Inakadate , 600 miles north of Toyko, where the tradition began in 1993. The village has now earned a reputation for its agricultural artistry and this year the enormous pictures of Napoleon and a Sengoku-period warrior, both on horseback, are visible in a pair of fields adjacent to the town hall. More than 150,000 vistors come to Inakadate, where just 8,700 people live, every summer to see the extraordinary murals. Each year hundreds of volunteers and villagers plant four different varieties of rice in late May across huge swathes of paddy fields.

Fictional warrior Naoe Kanetsugu and his wife Osen appear in fields in the town of Yonezawa , Japan And over the past few years, other villages have joined in with the plant designs. Another famous rice paddy art venue is in the town of Yonezawa in the Yamagata prefecture. This year’s design shows the fictional 16th-century samurai warrior Naoe Kanetsugu and his wife, Osen, whose lives feature in television series Tenchijin. Various artwork has popped up in other rice-farming areas of Japan this year, including designs of deer dancers.
Smaller works of crop art can be seen in other rice-farming areas of Japan such as this image of Doraemon and deer dancers The farmers create the murals by planting little purple and yellow-leafed kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed tsugaru roman variety to create the coloured patterns between planting and harvesting in September. The murals in Inakadate cover 15,000 square metres of paddy fields. From ground level, the designs are invisible, and viewers have to climb the mock castle tower of the village office to get a glimpse of the work. Rice-paddy art was started there in 1993 as a local revitalization project, an idea that grew out of meetings of the village committee.
