Elizabeth Warren, an American bankruptcy law expert, Harvard Law School professor, and Democratic Party candidate in the 2012 United States Senate election in Massachusetts, will discuss the challenges facing the nation and her views on what should be done based on her life experience and recent service as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under President Barack Obama. Veteran journalist Christopher Lydon will moderate.

De Amerikaanse senator Bernard Sanders heeft de namen genoemd van de miljardairs die de presidentsverkiezingen in de Verenigde Staten manipuleren.

Hij noemde de namen van 26 miljardairs die lid zijn van 23 verschillende families. Sanders schat dat deze lijst met namen slechts het topje van de ijsberg is.

“Ik denk dat het aantal in werkelijkheid nog veel hoger ligt omdat het grootste gedeelte van de donaties in het geheim wordt gedaan,” legde de senator uit. “De 1% is niet alleen geïnteresseerd in onze economie, ze wil ook onze regering overnemen.”

Sanders voegde toe dat de Amerikaanse regering in de verkoop is gedaan door het Hooggerechtshof. “De rechters zeiden eigenlijk tegen de miljardairs en de corporaties die ze besturen: jullie zijn al eigenaar van Wall Street, de kolenbedrijven en de oliegiganten, maar voor een klein percentage van jullie fortuin krijgen jullie nu de kans om ook de Amerikaanse regering op te kopen.”

Volgens het rapport America for Sale: A Report on Billionaires Buying the 2012 Election zijn er 26 miljardairs die de regering proberen op te kopen:

Sheldon Adelson, eigenaar van het Las Vegas Sands Casino. Hij bezit naar schatting 25 miljard dollar. Dat maakt hem de op zes na rijkste inwoner van de Verenigde Staten.

De gebroeders Koch (David, Charles en William) zijn samen 103 miljard dollar waard. Ze investeren naar schatting 400 miljoen dollar in de presidentsverkiezingen van 2012.

Jim Walton heeft een fortuin van 23,7 miljard dollar. Hij is de chef van nieuwszender CNN die gisteren zijn vertrek aankondigde.

De miljardairs kunnen in het geheim opereren. Het geld wordt anoniem gedoneerd. Het conservatieve kabal werkt het meest effectief achter gesloten deuren. Senator Sanders is één van de weinige gekozen vertegenwoordigers die de moed heeft om in het openbaar over deze mensen te spreken.

De meeste leden van het Huis van Afgevaardigden en de Senaat zijn te bang om de miljardairs te benoemen, laat staan tegen ze in opstand te komen. De leden van het congres die dat wel hebben gedaan werden bedreigd met advertentiecampagnes die ze in een kwaad daglicht zouden stellen.

Nicola Tesla delivered in 1893 at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Though today less known than
figures like Edison and Einstein, Tesla was more or less the father of much of our modern technology, since
he among other things developed the foundations of the European electrical system based on alternating
currents and the principles of wireless radio communication.
