Op woensdag haalde Bruce Springsteen tijdens een concert in Berlijn fel uit naar de bankiers. Hij noemde ze ‘hebzuchtige dieven’ en ‘roofridders’.

In een uitverkocht Olympiastadium sprak Springsteen over de economisch zware tijden die hebben geresulteerd in de schuldencrisis in Griekenland en andere landen.

“In de Verenigde Staten zijn veel mensen hun baan kwijtgeraakt,” zei de 62-jarige Springsteen die drie uur lang voor 58.000 fans in een volgepakt stadium optrad waar in 2006 de finale van het Wereldkampioenschap voetbal werd gespeeld.

In Death to My hometown valt Springsteen de ‘hebzuchtige dieven en roofridders’ aan die ‘onze families en bedrijven hebben vernietigd en die onze huizen in beslag hebben genomen’.
