Bush wanted the war with Iraq the fist day he arrived at the office. The Habbush letter was a letter which appeared to show a link between Al Qaeda and Iraq’s Saddam Hussein government. It is purported to be a letter from the head of Iraqi intelligence to Saddam Hussein, detailing training which Mohammed Atta supposedly received in Iraq.

According to Ron Suskind in his book The Way of the World, the letter was a forgery, created by the CIA on direct order of the President, to imply a tie between Al Qaeda and Iraq, and thus provide justification for the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
